In this area you will find a teacher’s kit and two virtual training sessions that will enable science teachers to motivate, inspire and guide the students from each school to develop the content and activities, disseminate and implement them through the different media channels.
The teacher’s kit will include background materials and literature, 10 dilemmas and societal aspects regarding NT issues with the relevant stakeholder involved and debate scenarios. The kit will also include instructional guidelines for mentoring the student’s participation in the different media communication channels – press (students as young journalist writing articles), social media (students generating engagement and interactive activities and preparing scripts for short movies) and live school debate (students as young debaters and writing the school’s ethical code of NT (“NanoCarta”) .
Nanochannels Teachers Kit
In this section, NANOCHANNELS offers Teacher Training kit. The file for download is available to all teachers interested in organising educational activities within their schools, and includes background materials, literature and specific case studies, all related to the contents of other tools and workshops developed within NANOCHANNELS.
The Teacher’s kit aims at supporting the teachers in their preparation and throughout the implementation of the tasks expected from the schools.
In a first section, the NANOCHANNELS project is introduced: rationale, aims and objectives, partners’ presentation, then the teachers get a clear picture of their role in the project and the tasks they will be responsible for. In a second section the teachers will find background information on teaching nanoscience and nanotechnology, followed by a third section with information on the project portal and micro-sites, the basics of article writing, and detailed guidelines for preparing internet and social media content for the students. In a fourth section, the social media campaign and the organization of the school live debates are explained, including a list of dilemmas to build the debates on and a definition of the Nanocarta that each school will produce at the end of the live events. In a final and fifth section a calendar for the two virtual trainings is presented.
